MILWAUKEE — Roundy's Supermarkets here, a 155-store grocery chain with locations throughout Wisconsin, Minnesota and Illinois, has implemented the Hawkeye POS video auditing system in 25 stores. Roundy's plans to roll out the system, from Agilence, Camden, N.J., to an additional 25 locations this year.

The item-level synchronization software pulls data directly from the POS systems and marries the data with video in real-time.

Roundy's is leveraging the technology to minimize POS losses that stem not only from traditional shrink activities, but also operational and training errors. The system "gives us a tool to identify areas of POS losses that we suspected were taking place but couldn't confirm or quantify," said Mike Santimauro, vice president of loss prevention at Roundy's, in a statement.

"We now have better visibility at the point-of-sale and can see how operational and training issues impact profitability."
