Sam's Club Upgrades Website

Sam's Club expects to complete an upgrade to its website in the next few weeks that will make it easier for members to customize their experiences, the chief executive officer said at an investors' conference.

NEW YORK — Sam's Club expects to complete an upgrade to its website in the next few weeks that will make it easier for members to customize their experiences, the chief executive officer said at an investors' conference here Wednesday.

"We believe this new website not only improves speed and content, but adds a number of additional membership initiatives and value, making it easier for them to renew, to check their e-Values [a customized discount program], the ability to customize and personalize their specific relationship with Sam's Club around their member preferences and make it much easier for them to check out and shop," said Brian Cornell, CEO of Sam's, at the Barclays Capital Retail and Restaurant Conference.

In response to a question, he also said the chain was testing "a number" of new in-store checkout initiatives to improve service.

Sam's Club is a division of Bentonville, Ark.-based Wal-Mart Stores.
