Save Mart to Manage Employees With Open-Source Database

Save Mart Supermarkets has selected Ingres Database, an open-source database from Ingres, Redwood City, Calif., to manage the time-and-attendance application for its more than 20,000 employees.

MODESTO, Calif. — Save Mart Supermarkets here has selected Ingres Database, an open-source database from Ingres, Redwood City, Calif., to manage the time-and-attendance application for its more than 20,000 employees.

Ingres Database allows Save Mart to bypass significant up-front cost and install a product that is designed to scale easily as the company continues to expand, said Ingres.

“As Save Mart doubled in size with the recent acquisition of Albertsons, we were looking for a way to use reliable and easily scalable software without challenging our budget,” said James Sims, chief information officer, Save Mart. “Ingres enables us to do more at a lower cost and with more flexibility to adapt to the market conditions.”
