Schnucks Sponsors Gluten-Free Fair

Vendor exhibits, food samples and informational seminars were part of a gluten-free fair co-sponsored by Schnuck Markets.

ST. LOUIS — Vendor exhibits, food samples and informational seminars were part of a gluten-free fair Schnuck Markets co-sponsored last weekend.

Held at the Shrewsbury City Center on March 19 from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., the event was a joint effort between Schnucks; manufacturer Andrea's Gluten-Free; and The Healthy Planet, a natural living publication. The cost was $55 per attendee.

Medical professionals led a variety of information seminars, such as "Healthier Without Wheat," and "Is Your Thyroid Fed Up With Gluten?" The fair was open to anyone who is affected by gluten intolerance. "Do you have questions about gluten intolerance, wheat allergies or celiac disease?" promotional materials read. "Do you wonder if you or a family member might have celiac disease?"

Attendees could sample and buy gluten-free foods from a variety of manufacturers. The fair is one of a growing number of ways Schnucks caters to those affected by gluten intolerance. It also runs a gluten-free consumer advisory board.
