LOS ANGELES — The Western Association of Food Chains here said Karl Schroeder, president of the Northern California division of Safeway, Pleasanton, Calif., has been elected chairman of WAFC.
Other new officers are Lynn Gust, executive vice president, merchandising and advertising, Fred Meyer Inc., Portland, Ore., vice president; Mike Stigers, president and chief executive officer, PW Markets, San Jose, Calif., treasurer; and Sue Klug, president of the Southern Calfiornia divison of Albertsons, Boise, Idaho, secretary. As the former board chairman, Pete Van Helden, executive vice president, retail operations, for Minneapolis-based Supervau, remains on the board as advisory chairman.
WAFC's only new board member is Greg Sparks, president of the Seattle division of Safeway. All other board members were reelected.
