SN has announced its Category Excellence Awards for a large number of suppliers who serve food retailers’ increasingly complex needs in a wide range of categories. Among those receiving top honors, General Mills was recognized in the cereal category, Bayer won for over-the-counter medications, and Dean Foods was cited for the dairy category. There were 56 winners overall in 28 categories. Winners were chosen by SN editors based largely on retailer feedback via a survey and interviews. SN identified the key attributes each supplier brings to the table, such as shopper insights, innovation, focus on costs and collaboration.
