NEW YORK – Supermarket News, in collaboration with Food Marketing Institute, will launch an interactive smart phone application designed specifically for the FMI 2010 Show in Las Vegas.

This application will enhance the user trade show experience before, during and after the event. Unique features include breaking news and editorial, interactive floor maps with mapping to booths, social media capabilities, conference program, time schedules, and the ability for users to create or update schedules on the fly and keep all information organized in one place.

FMI 2010 will be held May 10-13 at the Mandalay Bay Convention Center in Las Vegas.

This new service is the latest addition to SN’s news delivery platforms, including the weekly magazine, daily e-newsletter, and real-time updates on the website at supermarketnews.com.

“This groundbreaking new tool is a great fit for SN’s industry-leading news and analysis, and we look forward to meeting our users’ needs in a trade show setting,” said Jerry Rymont, vice president of Penton Food Group and SN publisher.

Leslie Sarasin, FMI’s president and chief executive officer, said, “FMI 2010 highlights innovation and opportunities through products, services and education. This technology application provides a natural extension to the exciting program and complements our print show daily. It will convey the event in a broader way to participants and will also reach beyond our on-site program to include those eager to learn more about FMI 2010 from afar."
