BIRMINGHAM, Ala. — Max T. Henderson Jr. has been named president of Southern Family Markets effective immediately, the retailer here said Wednesday. Henderson assumes all responsibility for the 66 stores SFM operates under the Bruno's, Food World, Southern Family, Piggly Wiggly and SFM Liquors banners.
Henderson, a 28-year industry veteran, had most recently been consulting for SFM. His prior experience includes serving as executive vice president and general manager for Tops Friendly Markets, Williamsville, N.Y., and executive positions with the Ahold banners Giant-Carlisle, and Edwards.
Jeff Burkhead will continue as senior vice president and general manager for Southern Family, the company said.
Southern Family is a division of C&S Wholesale Grocers, Keane, N.H.
