Grand Rapids, Mich. — Spartan Stores here has entered into a collaborative purchasing agreement with Pharmacy Services Inc., a cooperative buying group based in Lansing, to maximize volume buys that will result in purchasing advantage and more dollars staying in the state of Michigan.
The agreement allows additional volume buying support through a contract with Livonia-based pharmaceutical supplier, The Harvard Drug Group.
“Spartan Stores is pleased to combine our purchasing advantage with PSI’s, and thereby promote growth, profitability and development of new independent pharmacy businesses, by offering pricing that is competitive based on volume purchasing,” said Eddie Garcia, director of pharmacy, Spartan Stores, in a press statement last week.
Spartan Stores owns and operates in-store pharmacies throughout its chain of 100 supermarkets in Michigan under the Glen’s Markets, Felpausch, Family Fare, VG’s and D&W Fresh Market banners.
