QUINCY, Mass. — Stop & Shop here has completed the rollout of its Scan It! scan-and-bag system to 50 additional stores in the Northeast and mid-Atlantic regions, extending the handheld self-service and media-delivery system to a total of 145 Stop & Shop and Giant Food stores.
The Scan It! system, based on software from Modiv Media here, enables shoppers to scan and bag their items while they shop and delivers targeted coupons and promotions based on individual shopping histories.
The system “makes the shopping experience better than ever by guiding Stop & Shop customers to exactly what they need and presenting them with the best money-saving values at the moment of decision,” said Bob Anderson, director of customer relationship management at Stop & Shop, in a statement.
