LOS ANGELES — Superior Grocers here, in conjunction with Nestlé USA, has donated $102,000 to local schools and youth organizations in Hispanic neighborhoods of Southern California.

Each of 102 schools and organizations was presented with a $1,000 donation in a ceremony at a Superior store in Montebello, Calif. The money is earmarked for supplies and educational programs in the face of budget cuts.

"We understand that education is a priority for Hispanic families," Vanessa Rivera, manager of multicultural marketing communications for Nestlé USA, said, "and our goal is to support the community by helping to close the gap on a number of school programs that face reduction or elimination."
