Supervalu Recalls Store Brand Macaroni and Cheese

Supervalu is voluntarily recalling its frozen Culinary Circle Gourmet Macaroni and Cheese products because they may be contaminated with listeria monocytogenes.

MINNEAPOLIS — Supervalu here is voluntarily recalling its frozen Culinary Circle Gourmet Macaroni and Cheese products because they may be contaminated with listeria monocytogenes.

The possibility for contamination was identified through routine sampling of the product at the manufacturing facility, according to the retailer. There have been no reported illnesses associated with the product.

The 38-ounce meals were sold in Supervalu-owned Acme, Albertsons, biggs, Cub Foods, Farm Fresh, Hornbacker's, Jewel-Osco, Lucky, Shaw's, Star Market, Shop 'n Save, and Shoppers Food & Pharmacy stores.

Listeria Monocytogenes is a foodborne illness that when ingested causes a listeriosis infection. Approximately 2,500 illnesses and 500 deaths are attributed to listeriosis in the U.S. annually, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
