BETHEL, Conn. — Continuing with the rollout of its remodeled PFresh stores, Target here handed out red mini-totes Oct. 9 to announce its new “Fresh” concept.

The tote included a Dove milk chocolate bar and samples of Smuckers’ natural peanut butter, Knorr stock, Market Pantry reduced sugar fruit, Shout Color Catcher and John Frieda Root Awakening.

A coupon pamphlet, included, read: “Welcome to fresh. Here’s a guide to your fresh grocery options and storewide surprises — with an extra helping of savings, too.”

Target offered $5 off grocery purchases of $50 or more and a free $10 gift card for new or transferred prescriptions.

The mass merchandiser touted $5 off every day when using Target’s loyalty Redcard. Other coupon savings were $1 off 3 pounds of bagged apples and $2 off Sutton & Dodge steakhouse quality USDA Angus beef.

Target said during its second quarter earnings call in August it was on schedule in having 900 stores remodeled with the fresh concept by the end of the year, between 60%-65% of its store base.
