The Netezza deployment reflects “our ongoing program to evaluate different technologies and architectures,” said Marcel Borlin, Tesco’s program manager, in a statement. “This implementation does not reflect any dissatisfaction with Teradata. Tesco continues to add new applications to the Teradata EDW [enterprise data warehouse].” Tesco uses the Teradata system to support management information and analytical services in the 13 countries where Tesco operates. Tesco has been operating Fresh & Easy Neighborhood Market stores in the U.S. for nearly a year.
