EL SEGUNDO, Calif. — Trade reports out of the United Kingdom last week said Fresh & Easy Neighborhood Market here is preparing to scout locations in Chicago in advance of a possible move there. Asked about the reports, a chain spokesman told SN, "It's too early to speculate about expansion elsewhere. We've been very straightforward about what we're doing, which encompasses opening stores in Northern California next year and growing within our existing areas of Southern California, Las Vegas and Phoenix." An article in The Independent said Fresh & Easy, a division of U.K.-based Tesco, has designated Matthew Price, a real estate director here, to head its property acquisition team in Chicago.
