Town’s Grocery Revival Includes Store Technology

MAYWOOD, Ill. — Maywood Market, which plans to launch a single-store operation here early this year, will be employing technology from NCR, Duluth, Ga., and BRdata, Melville, N.Y., as part of an effort to bring food retailing back to this community.

Most of the food stores in this community disappeared in the decades after a large manufacturing operation closed in 1975, but earlier this year three investors began working with local officials to bring full-service grocery shopping back to the area.

Maywood Market chose NCR’s Advanced Checkout Solution (ACS), RealPOS Bi-Optic Scanner/Scale, RealPOS 80 XRT workstation, RealPOS DynaKey cashier interface and ACS Consumer Marketing module. In addition, the store selected BRdata’s Retail Boss, a back-office software package. The systems were sold and serviced by NCR authorized reseller North Country Business Products, Bemidji, Minn.

“We want every aspect of this store to demonstrate our long-term commitment to the community,” said Maywood Market General Manager Dimitri Stathopoulos.
