BRAMPTON, Ontario — All Loblaw stores in Ontario were open Thursday despite two of the five local unions voting to reject a new contract this week.

United Food and Commercial Workers Locals 175 and 633, representing around 1,800 employees at nine stores in Southern Ontario, voted against the new deal, which Loblaw and negotiators from five local unions reached on the eve of a strike date. The majority of the 30,000 workers represented by UFCW Locals 1977, 175 and 1000A, voted last week to approve the deal.
