USDA Orders Beef Recall Due to E. Coli Contamination

S&S Foods, a beef processor based in Azusa, Calif., yesterday recalled more than 153,000 pounds of frozen ground beef patties that may be contaminated with E. coli.

WASHINGTON — S&S Foods, a beef processor based in Azusa, Calif., yesterday recalled more than 153,000 pounds of frozen ground beef patties that may be contaminated with E. coli. The U.S. Department of Agriculture told the company that the products are responsible for 11 reported illnesses. USDA’s Food Safety and Inspection Services said that the products — which bear the establishment number 20375 inside the USDA mark of inspection, and a case code beginning 06238 — had been shipped to distribution centers in Milwaukee, Wis., and Allentown, Pa.
