Vantage Foods Voluntarily Recalls Safeway Beef in Canada

Vantage Foods of Winnipeg has issued a voluntary recall of some Safeway-brand ground beef sent to stores in Manitoba, Saskatchewan and northeastern Ontario due to possible E. coli contamination.

OTTAWA, Canada — Vantage Foods of Winnipeg has issued a voluntary recall of some Safeway-brand ground beef sent to stores in Manitoba, Saskatchewan and northeastern Ontario due to possible E. coli contamination.

The Canadian Food Inspection Agency said yesterday that the lean ground beef packages affected by the recall have a “Best Before” or “Freeze By” date of March 19, and were sold between March 13 and 19.

No illnesses have been reported, but consumers who have these products in their freezers are being advised not to consume the meat.
