SPRINGFIELD, N.J. — Village Super Market here has announced the election of five new members to its board of directors: Peter R. Lavoy, Stephen F. Rooney, Nicholas Sumas, John J. Sumas and Kevin Begley.
Lavoy has 40 years of retail experience in New Jersey and is recently retired from Foodtown, a cooperative grocery chain, as president and chief operating officer. Rooney has been a financial analyst with Standard & Poor's asset-backed securities group for the past 13 years and previously focused on retail lending as an officer with CoreStates Bank.
The three other new directors are company employees. Nicholas Sumas has served as vice president since 2007 and has held a range of positions since his employment with the Village in 1994. John J. Sumas has been head of Village’s legal department since 2002, and was appointed general counsel in 2007. Begley has served as chief financial officer since 1987 and as treasurer since 2002.
