BENTONVILLE, Ark. — Wal-Mart Stores here agreed to settle its dispute with former executive Tom Coughlin out of court, reports said Thursday. A jury trial was to begin this week over Wal-Mart’s attempt to void retirement benefits for Coughlin, the former executive chairman of the retailer who pleaded guilty to tax evasion and wire fraud charges associated with misuse of hundreds of thousands of dollars in company funds.
