Waldbaum's Pharmacists File Labor Charges

Waldbaum's pharmacists represented by Local 338 of the United Food and Commercial Workers union on Wednesday said they have filed a claim against A&P with the National Labor Relations Board, charging the retailer with engaging in unfair labor practices during negotiations for a new contract.

NEW YORK — Waldbaum's pharmacists represented by Local 338 of the United Food and Commercial Workers union here on Wednesday said they have filed a claim against A&P with the National Labor Relations Board, charging the retailer with engaging in unfair labor practices during negotiations for a new contract. The union said negotiations with the Montvale, N.J.-based grocer have broken down over A&P’s insistence that the union withdraw from its current retirement program. As previously reported in SN, the union has authorized a strike.
