QUINCY, Mass. — Weather reports calling for a snowy weekend in the Northeast sparked hot sales at Stop & Shop stores in New York and Long Island, the retailer said on Friday.
Sales of baking goods including sugar, flour and yeast increased by 100%, according to Bob Hempson, a district manager for Stop & Shop. Batteries and flashlights, milk and bread, beer, soda and snack foods also saw pre-storm sales increases, Stop & Shop said.
