SUNBURY, Pa. — Weis Markets plans a “lightning quick changeover” for 11 Giant Markets stores it is purchasing in the Binghamton, N.Y. market.
Weis, based here, said Thursday that it intends to close all 11 stores on Sunday and reopen them on Tuesday after converting each store’s front-end system including cash registers, scanners and scales. Weis said it has hired nearly all of Giant Markets’ former store employees. The deal to acquire the location is scheduled to close Monday.
