SUNBURY, Pa. — Weis Markets here has reached a settlement in a class-action lawsuit over allegations the retailer’s credit and debit card receipts contained too many printed numbers.

SUNBURY, Pa. — Weis Markets here has reached a settlement in a class-action lawsuit over allegations the retailer’s credit and debit card receipts contained too many printed numbers.

The class included shoppers who made a purchase at Weis Markets, Mr. Z's, King's, Scot's Lo Cost or SuperPetz between Dec. 4, 2006, through June 7, 2009. They charged that paper receipts during that time contained the first six and last four digits of the credit or debit card account numbers — more than was allowable when the federal Fair and Accurate Credit Transactions Act went into effect.

Weis denied liability but agreed to a settlement under which eligible customers will be entitled to receive a voucher in an amount up to $7.50 redeemable at any Weis Markets location, subject to certain restrictions.

Weis officials declined comment.
