JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Winn-Dixie Stores said it is supporting American Heart Month by promoting the management and prevention of cardiovascular disease through its pharmacies and in stores this month.
The retailer is partnering with the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality to offer guests a Free Treating High Cholesterol guide available in English and Spanish. Each Winn-Dixie pharmacy offers guests free cholesterol screenings. Winn-Dixie pharmacists recommend their patients get their blood pressure checked at least once a month. Most stores are equipped with blood pressure machines.
"With pharmacies in a majority of our stores, Winn-Dixie is distinctively positioned to offer guests expert consultation, disease prevention information and medications alongside an abundant selection of heart healthy meal and dietary solutions," said John Fegan, Winn-Dixie's vice president of pharmacy, in a press statement.
Winn Dixie shoppers can take advantage of special promotions near the pharmacy, including an exclusive 2 for $4 deal offered by Quaker Oats Oatmeal (18 oz.), a heart-healthy option that research shows may reduce cholesterol.
Winn-Dixie also has a free downloadable pharmacy app available on its website for patients to view and reorder prescriptions, receive alerts when a prescription is ready and set reminders to take medications.
