Doherty Receives FMI Award

ARLINGTON, Va. — Linda M. Doherty, president and chief executive officer of the New Jersey Food Council, has received the Food Marketing Institute Donald H. MacManus Association Executive Award in recognition of her leadership and accomplishments.

The award was presented at FMI’s Day in Washington.

“Linda works diligently to represent some of the finest grocery and food distribution employers in the Garden State,” said Leslie G. Sarasin, president and CEO of FMI. “With a $105 billion economy, feeding nearly nine million New Jerseyans a day, Linda continues to advocate for her state’s food retailers, most notably through job creation, disaster preparedness, food safety and sustainability.”

Doherty was cited for her efforts fighting New Jersey’s gift-card escheat law, for supporting reform in state liquor licensing, for her efforts promoting food safety through the FMI SafeMark program, for working with state agencies on disaster relief efforts, and for promoting reform in the state’s Women, Infants and Children nutrition program.
