Food Lion Builds Excitement Around Food Drop

SALISBURY, N.C. — Food Lion added a social media component to its popular Operation Grocery Drop initiative.

From Aug. 29-31, Food Lion conducted a Twitter contest that invited the public to watch a video of the Aug. 11 Operation Grocery Drop in Richmond, Va. All those who answered a question about the video were entered to win a $100 gift card.

As reported, Operation Grocery Drop is a promotion in which Food Lion surprises a neighborhood with free My Essentials private-label groceries. Each resident on the blog receives between $15 to $25 worth of free groceries.

Along with Richmond, Operation Grocery Drop has taken place in a Raleigh, N.C., neighborhood.
