KEASBEY, N.J. — ShopRite Supermarkets is offering a $2 incentive to join its new YourBucks loyalty club launched last week.

Customers register their Price Plus Card online to receive individualized offers via text message or email. When the shopper purchases the promoted product with her Price Plus card, a YourBucks reward prints at checkout.

“YourBucks are never less than $1 and can be used for anything you want at your local ShopRite,” states promotional material. The program is powered by Catalina Marketing.

YourBucks is the latest in a series of programs delivering offers based on past purchases.

Earlier this month, Food Lion installed kiosks in 100 stores that allow shoppers to swipe their MVP loyalty card and receive offers based on their buying history. Coupons include money off their order, as well as private- and national-brand product savings.

The units will hit additional stores later this year.

The news comes as Big Y is rolling out a targeted shopper promotion system from Incentive Targeting, Woburn, Mass., after a three-month test.

Now is an especially opportune time to provide relevant offers, noted Tim Ressmeyer, vice president of shopper marketing for SymphonyIRI.

“Shoppers are overwhelmed by all the deals, the offers and what they have to do to save money these days,” he said. “You have to get the right offer to the right shopper at the right time.”
