Weis launches new price programs

Weis Markets on Thursday unveiled details of new pricing programs at its stores, including an offer to double a competitor’s price difference on select items designated with a “Lowest Price Guarantee.”

The Lowest Price Guarantee is part of a program tagged Three More Ways to Save by the Sunbury, Pa.-based retailer. Weis also lowered everyday prices on more than 1,000 items and continued 90-day “Price Freeze” discounts on thousands of additional items.

“In January, our customers look to us for ways to stretch their dollars, not just on a weekly basis but over the long-term,” EVP Kurt Schertle said in a statement. “To meet these expectations, we’ve launched Three More Ways to Save, which offers an expanded range of every day savings throughout every store department. Equally important, these are savings they can depend on over the long haul.”

Four items each week will receive the “Lowest Price Guarantee” designation. Current sale circulars for Weis stores indicate this week’s items are Swift bone-in pork sirloin at 98 cents per pound; 24-ounce Prego pasta sauces at $1.47; Healthy Choice frozen entrees at $1.77 each and Pop Tarts at $1.47.

Prices require a Weis Shoppers Club card. Items with everyday lower prices as well as extended discount “Price Freeze” items have been designated by signs in stores.
