Stemilt Introduces Transitional Organic Label

Stemilt Growers has decided to convert 100% of its stone fruit trees to organic farming practices, according to published reports and, in the meantime, has created a new label that highlights the fruits’ transitional status.

WENATCHEE, Wash. — Stemilt Growers here has decided to convert 100% of its stone fruit trees to organic farming practices, according to published reports and, in the meantime, has created a new label that highlights the fruits’ transitional status. The new label, Artisan Naturals, was created to sell its naturally farmed fruit at a higher price during the transition to becoming certified organic. To be certified organic by the U.S. Department of Agriculture, growers must raise their crop free of pesticides or artificial fertilizers for three years.
