MONTVALE, N.J. — A&P yesterday announced the launch of “Seafood Joe’s Market Fresh Fish” at select A&P, Waldbaum’s, The Food Emporium and Super Fresh locations. Through a partnership with New York City’s Fulton Fish Market, the chain will initially feature a range of specialty items including Alaskan salmon, red snapper and softshell crab at 64 banner locations, with rollout continuing at other stores throughout the year. “Our new in-store seafood program will provide our customers with an expansive selection of fresh fish on a daily basis, including the ability for same-day pick-up on special orders. This is truly a first for the Northeast supermarket industry,” said Rebecca Philbert, senior vice president of merchandising and supply & logistics. The company said the rollout will be accompanied by an extensive training program that will help associates educate shoppers on different varieties of seafood and on the many options for preparing and cooking fresh seafood. The program will also allow shoppers to order their fish cleaned and prepared while shopping, or for pickup later in the day.
