Heinen's Expands Certified Humane Offerings
CLEVELAND - Heinen‘s Fine Foods will expand its offerings of “Certified Humane” meat, poultry, dairy and egg products, the company announced yesterday at a news briefing at its Brecksville, Ohio store. Developed by Humane Farm Animal Care -- a nonprofit, third-party certifier -- Certified Humane Raised and Handled labels indicate that products were produced by animals raised without antibiotics and hormones, and given sufficient space to support natural behaviors and rest, among other standards. “We support the Certified Humane program because it is aligned with our values as a company,” explained co-president Tom Heinen during the announcement. "We believe in treating all of our business partners with respect, and we extend this same respect to the animals that provide us with food.” The Cuyahoga Valley Countryside Conservancy and Cleveland-area egg producers Blue Hen Farms also announced affiliation with the Certified Humane program yesterday.Subscribe / Renew to Supermarket News
