Gallery: Extra-large Costco scores big on food

At 159,000 square feet, the Costco Wholesale store in Tustin, Calif., is one of the chain’s largest. It also ranks 27th in terms of sales.

Food takes up one-third of the store’s footprint but accounts for 50% of sales. Fresh foods and the store’s 22 gas pumps are what draw customers to the store, according to general manager Rick Borgens.
