Food and Drug Council Rallies for Alta Dena Boycott at Bristol Farms
Nov 25, 2008 6:00 AM
LOS ANGELES — The Food and Drug Council rallied yesterday in front of the Bristol Farms store at 7880 W. Sunset Blvd. here to boycott Alta Dena Dairy products. Political and labor leaders joined real dairy cows in the call to boycott the products.
According to the Food and Drug Council, Alta Dena Dairy is on the California Labor Federation’s “Do Not Patronize” list because it fails to make affordable health care available to its workers in the City of Industry and fails to observe other prevailing wages and benefits for its workers.
The five-day campaign, coordinated by the Food and Drug Council, began last weekend and will spread across 15 Bristol Farms stores across the Southland. Former Alta Dena employees will also talk about their difficulties in meeting basic health care needs for themselves and their families.
