BETHESDA, Md. — From now through June 29, all Balducci’s stores in Maryland, Washington, Virginia, New York and Connecticut will run Taste of South America, a month-long celebration showcasing flavors and culinary trends from the continent. Balducci’s will feature 80-100 new products from South America, host free master chef demos in conjunction with area restaurateurs and offer a number of vendor tastings in each store. “Food plays an important role in many South American cultures and shoppers in the United States are beginning to incorporate the distinct tastes of this region into their own cooking,” said Balducci’s Chief Executive Officer Barbara Parasco, in a statement. Every Saturday from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., each Balducci’s store will offer customers a variety of events, including product samplings, vendor demonstrations and store chef demonstrations. Chilean Ambassador Mariano Fernandez will visit the Bethesda, Md., Balducci’s at 2 p.m. this Sunday.
