SALISBURY, N.C. — Food Lion's Bloom banner has rolled out the Guiding Stars nutritional rating system to all 61 locations and is planning a series of promotions as the Food Lion banner completes the rollout of the program to its 1,200-store network next month, a spokeswoman for Bloom told SN yesterday. The system — developed in 2006 by Delhaize-owned sister chain Hannaford Bros. — assigned a rating from 0-3 stars based on an analysis of nutritional content. Bloom is the first Food Lion banner to roll out the program. About 26% of the 30,000 edible products offered at Bloom were awarded at least one star, the spokeswoman said. The program previously was rolled out to Sweetbay, the Delhaize-owned banner based in Tampa, Fla.
