TAMPA, Fla. — Chief Executive Officer Shelley Broader is leaving the Sweetbay Supermarket chain here effective June 15 to accept a position "in retailing outside of the supermarket industry," the Delhaize-owned chain said yesterday. Broader, who joined Sweetbay's sister banner, Hannaford Bros., Scarborough, Maine, in 1991, had spearheaded the conversion of Delhaize's Kash n' Karry chain in Florida to the Sweetbay format during the last four years. "I consider it an honor to have been chosen to help create this new grocery concept,” said Broader in a prepared statement. Sweetbay said her successor at the 107-store Sweetbay chain has not yet been identified. It also said an announcement identifying Broader's new employer was forthcoming.
