SAN BERNARDINO, Calif. — Jack Brown, chairman and chief executive officer of Stater Bros. Markets here, is scheduled to receive the Semper Fidelis Award from the Marine Corps Scholarship Foundation, its highest honor, at a ceremony at St. Regis Resort Monarch Beach in Dana Point, Calif., on Oct. 25. Brown, a Navy veteran, is an enthusiastic booster of the Marine Corps and the other military services in his personal life and at industry events. The foundation provides college scholarships to children of Marine veterans — more than 22,000 scholarships, totaling more than $34 million, since its founding in 1962. Its motto is “Honoring Marines by Educating Their Children.” Two other awards are scheduled to be presented at the Oct. 25 dinner: the Globe & Anchor Award to Richard Bertea, a retired aerospace executive; and the John Wooden Sportsman Award to John W. Hamilton, a real estate executive.
