BROOKINGS, Ore. — A nine-week holiday-themed game at C&K Markets here, operators of 60 Ray's Food Place stores, boosted order sizes over the prior year; boosted sales in the weeks leading up to Thanksgiving and Christmas; and boosted online consumer visits to the chain's website, Dan Cepeda, director of marketing, told SN.
The Great Grocery Giveaway — which required customers to spend at least $25 per visit to enter — awarded more than 69,000 prizes valued at more than $365,000, ranging from $3 off an order to $100 gift cards; in addition, the company offered an online component that awarded a year's worth of free groceries, valued at $2,600, to one entrant each week.
