New Coupon Network Planned

ERIE, Pa. A food retailer in the Great Lakes region plans to launch a digital coupon hub in the first quarter that will offer about 100 coupons, about 20% of which will be for its private label, according to the MDot Network here, which will provide the platformpp.

MDot declined to name the retailer, pending the launch of the program.

The network will enable the retailer to offer digital coupons from a range of digital content providers, such as Shortcuts.com or the P&G eSaver, in one central location on their Web site. In doing so, the consumer will see all coupons at once, rather than clicking through links to multiple coupon providers.

MDot said it has already signed two content partners, but is not yet announcing who they are.

What makes the platform different from other digital coupon offers is that paperless coupons are cleared in real-time and no loyalty card is required for enrollment or redemption. Once the shopper registers for the program and enters her phone number at the checkout, offers are automatically deducted from her bill, according to Bill Catania, MDots chief executive officer. No additional hardware is necessary.

The network can be branded under a retailers name. MDot has partnered with Inmar (CMS) for clearing and reimbursement.
