SAN DIEGO – In a small sign of supermarkets’ importance in the pharmacy industry, two successive grocery pharmacy leaders will chair one of the most important events on the industry’s calendar. It was announced here yesterday during this year’s event that Dennis Wiesner, senior director, privacy, pharmacy and government affairs, H.E. Butt Grocery Co., San Antonio, will follow Chris Dimos, president, Supervalu Pharmacies, Franklin Park, Ill., as chairman of the Pharmacy & Technology Conference of the National Association of Chain Drug Stores, Alexandria, Va., as well as the event’s planning committee. “Pharmacy and health care are critically important no matter where they are practiced,” Dimos told SN. “This is the Pharmacy & Technology Conference, but community pharmacy is community pharmacy.” NACDS’ membership includes most major retailers involved in pharmacy, as well as related businesses and suppliers.
