Duluth Workers to Vote on New Contract

DULUTH, Minn. — About 1,800 unionized workers at a variety of grocery banners in this area are scheduled to vote on a new contract offer from employers next week, a representative of United Food and Commercial Workers Local 1116 here told SN. If approved, the new three-year contract would apply retroactively to April 27, when the previous deal expired. The contract would cover workers at stores operated by Miner’s Inc., Mount Royal Foods and Supervalu. The union begins separate negotiations with area Cub Foods stores this week.
