Emeril Lagasse Guest Speaker at IDDBA Expo
Jun 3, 2008 6:00 AM, By ROSEANNE HARPER
NEW ORLEANS - Chef and food show host Emeril Lagasse told attendees at the International Dairy-Deli-Bakery Association's Dairy-Deli-Bake 2008 Seminar & Expo how his early experience helping his mother cook evolved into a multi-faceted career that's built around a passion for food. Lagasse related anecdotes from his early experiences working for a Portuguese bakery, through culinary school at Johnson & Wales to an eight-year stint at New Orleans' famed Commander's Palace. In his present life as restaurateur, television personality and author, he said he's found food is a good point of communication, and communicating via television is satisfying because he finds teaching satisfying. He emphasized his motto is "teach and tell, show and sell," a familiar theme here. In fact, here at IDDBA's Seminar & Expo 2008 that very theme echoes throughout IDDBA's Show & Sell Merchandising Center as it does each year.
