EL SEGUNDO, Calif. — In conjunction with Earth Day, Fresh & Easy Neighborhood Market here said it plans to launch a separate website today — freshandeasy.com/greenbuilding — dedicated to its green building initiatives. The company said the site will incorporate a real-time green-energy meter monitoring the solar panels on the roof of its Riverside, Calif., distribution center that will indicate the output from the panels, which provide about 30% of the energy used at the facility. Also available on the site will be information on The Climate Registry, an organization to which Fresh & Easy belongs, which builds and expands the greenhouse gas measurement and accounting work of the California Climate Action Registry. Fresh & Easy’s in-store recycling programs will also appear on the website. According to Tim Mason, chief executive officer, “We all have a responsibility to put thought into our impact on the environment. We take this responsibility seriously and strive to be good stewards of the environment.”
