Last year’s Aldi acquisition and the resulting plan to convert a “significant” number of Winn-Dixie and Harveys Supermarket stores is the winner of the second annual Supermarket News Top News Tournament, a bracket-style tournament in which our readers voted week-to-week on the news story you considered the biggest of 2023.

Aldi CEO Jason Hart spoke with Supermarket News at the end of August about the company’s power move in the Southeast territory, which positioned the brand to be a major player in the grocery market industry.
