KidFresh Shuts Store, Looks to Revamp Products
May 19, 2009 6:00 AM, By MARK HAMSTRA
NEW YORK — KidFresh has shuttered its lone retail location here, but is looking at relaunching the company's offerings with an expanded product line in the next few months, the founder and chief executive officer told SN yesterday.
KidFresh had opened a retail store on Manhattan's Upper East Side in 2007, focusing on nutritious food products — many of which were organic or natural — designed to appeal to children. That store was shuttered earlier this year.
It also began supplying some of its products to supermarkets, including Whole Foods Market and Foodtown, and offering an online ordering service.
"We are developing a whole new line of nutritious, delicious meals for children," Matt Cohen, the CEO, told SN. "We are taking it to the next level."
He said the company was weighing the possibility of opening other retail locations as it revamps its product offering and reconsiders its business model.
