Oklahoma Seeks to Incentivize Healthy Retail Offerings

TULSA, Okla. — State lawmakers here are planning a study this fall to determine how to make healthy, affordable and locally grown products more accessible to consumers by incentivizing retailers.
“Oklahoma ranks poorly when it comes to healthy eating,” State Rep. Seneca Scott, D-Tulsa, was quoted as saying in local reports. “Though I don’t believe lawmakers can force people to become healthy overnight, I think we can make it easier for them, while helping to support our local farmers and producers.”
Scott plans to introduce the Oklahoma Healthy Corner Stores Initiative in the next legislative session, the reports said.
