Overwaitea Workers to Vote on New Contract

VANCOUVER, British Columbia — Union workers at Overwaitea’s Save-On-Foods stores were voting Monday on a new contract settlement reached with the help of a provincial mediator. United Food and Commercial Workers Local 1518 had earlier rejected a tentative deal between union negotiators and Overwaitea. Published reports said the proposed contract included an agreement that Overwaitea would limit the number of Save-On stores it could convert to the lower-end PriceSmart banner.
