Target Unveils Simply Balanced

MINNEAPOLIS — Target here has struck a balance between nutrition and affordability with its new Archer Farms Simply Balanced private-label line extension.
Ranging from whole wheat pasta for $1.48 to chicken skewers for $5.49, the line includes more than 70 items that meet nutritional criteria including limits of 30% calories from fat, 10% calories from saturated fat and 25% calories from added sugars.
Products are also free of artificial flavorings, synthetic colors and trans fats, and are a good or excellent source of one beneficial nutrient such as protein or fiber, or includes a food group to encourage such as whole grains, vegetables or fruit. Frozen pizza, pasta, cereal, bread, crackers and granola bars are part of the Simply Balanced lineup.
